"When in Rome, do as the Romans do"
Roman Colosseum
Did you know that:
The Colosseum or Flavian Amphitheater was begun by Vespasian, inaugurated by Titus in 80 A.D. and completed by Domitian. Located on marshy land between the Esquiline and Caelian Hills, it was the first permanent amphitheater to be built in Rome. Its monumental size and grandeur as well as its practical and efficient organization for producing spectacles and controlling the large crowds make it one of the great architectural monuments achieved by the ancient Romans.

The Vatican
Did you know?
That Vatican City is the smallest country in the world? Yes, I said country! It is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, with over one billion adherents worldwide. The Vatican City is home to approximately 920 full-time residents who maintain passports from their home country and diplomatic passports from the Vatican. Thus, it is as though the entire country is composed of diplomats. In addition to the over 900 residents, approximately 3000 people work at the Vatican City and commute into the country from the greater Rome metropolitan area. |
Franchesca was our tour guide in Rome for the Vatican. Her perspective and the way she told the story with such emotion almost moved me to tears.
