Beaune, France Days 3 & 4
It was a dreary & rainy day when we left Paris for our drive to Beaune. It felt like the temperature dropped 20 degrees. The drive through the Burgundy region was just beautiful. I had very little knowledge about Beaune and did not know what to expect but after leaving such a large city as Paris with all of the hustle & bustle, I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled in to Beaune. It is such a quaint little town with cobblestone streets and small shops. I could see myself living in an area such as this.
Because of the storms we had gotten off schedule just a bit so when we arrived we had just enough time to get our luggage to our rooms and meet back in the lobby for a short stroll to the
CAVE du COUVENT des CORDELIERS.
Off we went, like little baby ducklings following their mama duck, aka Toni, in the rain. When we arrived we were greeted by our wine guide Marguerite . She gave each of us our own sommelier tasters that we were to keep as souvenirs and into the 13th century caverns we go for our wine tasting adventure.

Below: Pictures of the Cave du Couvent des Cordeliers. I found a bottle of wine made in 1969. That was the year that my " evil twin" was born. I am MUCH too young to have been born then!
At the bottom middle is one of our youngest tour members Amy with Marguerite in the wine cellar.

I was in the courtyard as we were about to leave when Marcia looked over and saw this woman at her door and thought it would be an interesting photo. Well, as I was taking another shot this boy on a bicycle came by and ended up in the shot. Talk about being at the right place at the right time. I don't think I could have done that if I had tried!

The Hospices de Beaune
For centuries, the Hospices and Hôtel-Dieu of Beaune (better known simply as the Hospices de Beaune) was the main hospital of this fortified town, Burgundy's wine capital. Now it's a museum with an outstanding 5,000-piece collection that includes Renaissance tapestries, furniture, everyday objects, apothecary jars, and The Last Judgment, a haunting religious masterpiece with nine panels painted by Rogier van der Weyden circa 1450.
