Ruette, Austria Days 6 &7
Lindau, Germany
The drive from Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland to Ruette, Austria was breathtaking. The mountains were so majestic as we traveled through the gorge I imagined us looking like little ants if you were to look from above. I was really dreading the bus rides before I left for this trip but Toni made the trips very interesting by telling us facts about each country as we were about to approach them. Annie was such a good driver too. The way she handled the bus was amazing. I generally get motion sickness when traveling but not once did I get nauseous. Annie told us that she had driven a box truck that hauled plants and they would stack them on racks in the back. She knew if she swayed back and forth too much that it would make the plants fall over and that is how she learned to drive with such smoothness.
We made a stop in Germany on the way to Austria and was able to spend a few hours there.

"Mad" King Ludwig's Neuschwanstein Castle
Shauna & I decided to take the hiking trail to the bridge so we could take photos of the castle. The hike almost killed me but it was worth it. This view was unbelievable!
After we got back to the castle we realized that we took the hard trail and there was another one that was much easier than the one we took. What can I say? The signs were in German and we had no idea what we were doing! I wondered why other people were looking at us strangely as we hiked the trail in our little sneakers and Shauna's white pants. |
