Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland Days 4 & 5
Being in Switzerland made me feel like I was in a fairytale . It is just breathtakingly beautiful! It is definitely on the top of my list as one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on earth. Shauna had told us how beautiful it was and I had seen some of her pictures but I never imagined it this way. Lauterbrunnen is such a tranquil little town and not touristy at all. They are very environmentally friendly there. They even recycle doggy poop! Now that is what I call going above and beyond the call of duty.
I also felt so safe there. We stayed at Hotel Oberland and when you left to go out you put your room key on a hook at the front desk. When you came back in, you just reached over and picked up your room key. I felt like I was staying in the Swiss version of Mayberry. You know, from Andy Griffith? I am a country girl, remember?

This was the view from my hotel balcony. Now tell me, how would you like to wake up to that view every morning? Breathtaking I tell you , just breathtaking!
This was a view from the hotel. Breathtaking, huh?
Part of the group decided to get up early an take a gondola ride up to the Schilthorn. It started out cloudy but cleared up quickly. Talk about tranquil, at 7 am no one was out . I bet we were the first ones up in the whole town. Well, maybe not but it sure felt like it.
Did you know that
the James Bond film "Her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed at the Schilthorn in 1968? On the gondola coming back from the Schilthorn

A group picture with the ones that decided to go on a hike with Toni. I was exhausted after getting up early to go to the Schilthorn but I was not about to miss my chance to go hiking in the Alps!
Above: How cool! Colored hard boiled eggs in cartons!
Sherry at the gas pump that she "thought" was an ATM!
The tastiest fruit that I think I have ever put in my mouth!
